Our Branch of the Grenadier Guards Association has been in existence since 1948 and we are always looking to recruit new members in order we may continue for many more years to come.

Following the closure of the West Kent Branch, some years ago (approx. 2015/16), and in early 2023 the closure of the Medway Branch, we are now the only surviving Branch of the Grenadier Guards Association in the whole of Kent.

We know that there are many Grenadiers, and veterans of the other Regiments that form the Household Division, living or working in the Kent area, but who have yet to become involved with Association activities.  Whether you are still serving, or have been discharged from the Colours, we welcome you making contact with us with a view to joining the Kent Branch.

Attending our meetings and events is a great way to learn more about the Association, rekindle friendships from your service, meet other members, and most importantly – have fun!

We meet in Hythe, Kent.  Branch meetings are usually held at 1115 hrs on the 3rd Sunday of January, March (also the AGM), May, July, September and November, although the 3rd Sunday “rule of thumb” may need to be adjusted to avoid conflict with other events that are occurring on a 3rd Sunday in those months.  A luncheon is organised for after our meetings, but please pre-book your menu choices if you wish to stay for lunch.

To inspire you to get involved, take a look at our upcoming events page.  There you will find details of our forthcoming meetings, our Annual Dinner, our Christmas Function, plus other events that we feel will be of interest to our members.

Also, take a look at our current list of Serving, Grenadier, Associate, Honorary and Social members that can be found on our The Branch page (look for the toggles).  How many of them do you know from your military service together?  Wouldn’t it be great to get in touch with them again to “swing the lamp”, “pull up a sandbag”, or just catch up again?  Even if there is no one you know listed, the Kent Branch assures you that a very warm welcome awaits you.

The core of our membership, and one of the criteria for Association membership, are:

  • Officers (who have formerly served in the Grenadier Guards)
  • Discharged Grenadier Guards Soldiers (provided they have completed their recruit training in the Regiment and have been awarded a character assessment of not less than “SATISFACTORY“)

We also welcome membership applications from those who have served in the Life Guards, the Blues and Royals (Household Cavalry Regiment), Coldstream, Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards (The Household Division) who may be elected as Associate Members of the Branch.

At the discretion of the Branch Committee, non-Household Division serving and veteran personnel may also be granted Associate membership of the Kent Branch.

We are always pleased to welcome new members and look forward to you joining our friendly Regimental fraternity.

Should you need any assistance, or have questions about membership, please contact us via our Contact Us page.

Please send the Membership Secretary your contact details and details of your Regimental history
