During the month of June 2025, and in support of “Help for Heroes”, the wife (Sue Goodson) of our Life Branch President / Hon. Secretary / Treasurer / Events Coordinator and Webmaster (Bob Goodson) has signed up for Operation Swim again this year.
Up until last year, Sue last swam when she was a child, and can presently manage to swim 64 lengths, which she does 3 times a week.
She is now of state pension age, and her initial goal in support of this charity is to swim 35km, equivalent to three of the Normandy beaches (Gold, Juno and Sword), a total of 1,400 lengths of a 25m swimming pool.
If she can complete that distance, she will then keep going to see if she can manage 47km, equal to the length of all the five Normandy beaches, thereby adding the distance of Utah and Omaha beaches to her swim distance.
This will be a huge challenge for Sue as, in her 4-week timescale, she will need to swim at least 470 lengths a week; an extra 278 lengths a week to what she can currently swim.
She believes this will be more exhausting than last year’s swim, especially when she also needs to keep up her dancing 4 to 5 times a week.
If you would like to support Sue and make a donation, it would be much appreciated. Whether you donate a lot or a little, everything helps.
You can make a donation via Sue’s “Help for Heroes” Operation Swim donation page. Simply click on the SPONSOR SUE button below, then click the donate button and fill in the details.
Thank you in advance for your support.
